Thailand SIV Combo Tour
What?
Northwest Paragliding runs tours to Thailand every winter. Thailand offers some of the most spectacular and friendly flying anywhere on the globe. Setting personal bests is common on these trips, while enjoying Thailand's wonderfully hospitable people and culture.
Who?
The Thailand XC tour is designed for P2 or P3 pilots that want to improve their active piloting and wing handling by doing coached maneuvers over a lake in a controlled environment. Then want to start soaring and dipping their toes into cross country flying.
Where?
Matt and his team have spent years exploring and flying around the entire country of Thailand to find the best launches, routes and conditions. Our tours base about 3 hours south of Bangkok in a town called Pak Nam Pran. There are 3-4 foot launch flying sites we use within driving distance. We run our SIVs at an inland lake with fresh water.
Format
This course is divided into two parts a 4 day SIV and 4 day thermalling / soaring clinic. The 4 day SIV includes a ground school day and 3 days of towing (2 tows a day per pilot for a total of 6). The 4 day thermalling clinic includes a ground school day and 3 days of soaring / thermalling.
Day 1: Meet in Bangkok, transport to Pak Nam Pran
Day 2 - 9: 4 SIV days, 4 Thermal Clinic days
Day 10: Travel day, transport to Bangkok airport
2027 Schedule
SIV Combo Tour:
Janruary 31st: Group meets in Bangkok at 12pm, drives to Pak Nam Pran
February 1st - February 8th: 4 day SIV, 4 day thermal clinic
February 9th: Group drives back to Bangkok and can be at the airport by 9am (please book departing flights February 9th afternoon at the earliest)
